It's been a busy 24 hours for American film and TV actor Kerry Washington when TV Times meets her at a plush London hotel on a Monday morning in February.

Having made a dazzling first appearance the evening before at the prestigious BAFTA Film Awards, the New York-born star of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery and Little Fires Everywhere is now excited to be introducing us to her new Apple TV thriller, Imperfect Women.

Inspired by author Araminta Hall's 2020 novel of the same name, the eight-parter centres around the friendship between 40-somethings Eleanor (played by Kerry), Mary (The Handmaid's Tale star Elisabeth Moss) and Nancy (House of Cards' Kate Mara), whose lives are shattered when Nancy is murdered.

But as the investigation into her death unearths shocking revelations, is their decades-long bond quite what it seemed?
