MONTY DON on navigating horticultural gems along the Rhine River

- HANNAH DAVIES

MONTY DON'S RHINELAND GARDENS

For almost two decades, Monty Don has relished exploring the culture and history of different countries, such as Italy, Japan, America and Spain, through the stories of their remarkable green spaces. So the Gardeners' World presenter is delighted to be embarking on a new adventure in his latest BBC2 series, Monty Don's Rhineland Gardens.

The three-episode run will see Monty travel along the Rhine River, from the Swiss Alps to the North Sea in the Netherlands, to take in an array of plots, including arboretums, rooftop oases and wildlife havens, that can be found along its course.

TV Times caught up with Monty, 70, for an exclusive chat to find out more...

You've toured gardens in so many places around the world, Monty. Why was the Rhineland region next on the list?
