Coronation Street favourites Carla Connor (played by Alison King) and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) have been enjoying a quieter life in Weatherfield without Lisa's 'back-from-the-dead' ex Becky when a baby comes along this week to turn their world upside down again. Connie - the daughter of Carla's evil brother Rob Donovan and his former prison-officer lover Mandy Waring - is brought to No 6 by Mandy's mother Sheila, who has raised the nipper so far but needs Carla and Lisa to take over while she has a stay in hospital.

'It reminds me of the [1988] film Three Men and a Baby - we've had a giggle about that on set,' says Vicky, 50, as, here, she and Alison, who turns 53 on 3 March, join TV Times for an exclusive chat about this latest chapter for their characters in the ITV1 soap...

How did you feel when you discovered this storyline was on the cards for 'Swarla'?

ALISON Connie is played by twins Aoife and Erin O'Neill, and they're both absolutely gorgeous. I don't know how it fits into the storyline long-term, but I was more than happy to have some babies around. For Carla and Lisa, however, they're just getting back to normal after the storm of Becky and then something else is thrown into the mix that is going to test them again!
