The Beatles officially split up in April 1970, when Paul McCartney announced his departure.

But what do you do next after leaving the world’s biggest band?

In his feature-length Prime Video rockumentary Man on the Run, American director Morgan Neville looks back on how Liverpool-born Paul, who was knighted for services to music in 1997 and is now 83, set out to redefine himself during that ensuing decade, moving his family to Kintyre in Scotland, as well as recording and touring with a new group, Wings.

For Morgan - whose 2013 film 20 Feet from Stardom, which charted the experiences of rock and pop’s backing singers, won an Oscar - this was a passion project.

‘I’ve been a Beatles obsessive my whole life,’ he reveals to TV Times in an exclusive interview. ‘And having read and watched everything about The Beatles, I felt this was a chapter people didn’t really understand.’
