The Silent Book Club

Often, we neglect time spent on a good read because of how exhausted we are, or feeling like we're not being 'productive' enough, but this book club is a laid-back, no-pressure gathering for book lovers. Unlike traditional clubs, there's no assigned reading and absolutely no deadlines. Forget forced book recs and performative book reviews; the silent book club movement (part of a growing community worldwide) is here purely to restore our love of reading. Also known as the 'introvert's happy hour', it offers a relaxed space where book lovers can meet up, read in silence and then (optionally) chat afterwards. Hosted all around South Africa in cosy cafés, bookstores, parks, on beaches and even on trains (in Cape Town), a silent book club taps into the desire for genuine connection and a digital detox.
