Growing up in Amanzimtoti in KZN, Michelle Govender describes her teenage self as being “fascinated by writing”. By the age of 15 she'd launched her own website, Mish Informed - a bold space where she shared pop-culture think-pieces and interviewed local and international talent. After matric, she worked in jobs across South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya, before landing up at Spotify, where the continent's music ecosystem has become her playground.
