With countless beauty and fashion influencers out there, it's always refreshing to have someone unique and authentic shining on the global stage. Canadian-born supermodel and entrepreneur Winnie Harlow is not new to the game, yet her stardom is a constant reminder of why it pays to stay true to yourself.

At the age of four, Winnie began developing patches on her skin, a symptom of vitiligo (an autoimmune condition where parts of the skin lose their pigment). "I always felt alienated," she admitted in an interview with Highsnobiety. "As a kid, I felt so much like I was the only person in the world with vitiligo."

Despite being bullied throughout school because of her appearance (being called 'zebra' and 'cow', among other things), Winnie had learnt from the women in her family that being confident was the way she could achieve what she wanted to in life.
