Dadi, why doesn’t the gardener uncle water the plants anymore?” 7-year-old Reyansh asked his grandmother.
“Beta, gardener uncle isn’t coming these days. I heard he is not well.” Dadi sighed and said.
Reyansh’s grandfather, who was standing nearby, glanced at the flower beds in the society garden and remarked, “The gardener has fallen ill at the worst possible time! The plants were just planted, and now they will dry up. They won't survive this heat.”
“Now tell me, is falling sick something someone can control?” Dadi frowned and said.
Reyansh thought for a moment and asked, “Should we water the plants?”
“That’s the society’s garden. It’s not our job to water the plants,” Dadu said, shaking his head.
“But can’t we still do it?” Reyansh insisted.
“We can, but...” Before Dadu could finish his sentence, Reyansh dashed inside, deep in thought.
A few minutes later, Dadu glanced out at the lawn and was stunned.
“Look! Reyansh has actually gone to water the plants!” he exclaimed.
Dadi peered from the balcony and saw Reyansh carefully pouring water on the plants with a small bucket.
“Look at him, watering the plants one palmful at a time,” Dadu chuckled at the sight of Reyansh’s tiny bucket.

The Park Came Alive
The Koi fish living in Sangam Pond of Munia Park had lately become very sad. No one came near their pond anymore, while earlier, the place used to be full of morning walkers. In the evenings, women and children would gather there. The park always remained lively with people’s chatter and laughter.

GRAVE MISTAKES
“Here’s your new school,” Dad said as he pulled over at the gate of Silver Pines School. Courtesy of his dad’s frequent job transfers, Omi is always the new student. This was his fourth school in the last eight years. Standing at the gates of his new school, clutching his bag, he tried not to look nervous. His family had just moved to the town a week ago, and everything still smelled new—new books, new uniform, new trouble.
