Ather has taken a long time to launch a second product line in the country and it is dedicated to the family. Rahul Ghosh takes a deep dive into the Ather Rizta

Family matters

Ather Energy has been selling electric scooters for six years now and all through these years, the company has been offering variants based on the Ather 450 platform. Now though the time has come to launch a second new model and it is called the Rizta.

The Rizta unlike the 450 is positioned as a family scooter and as a result, comes with numerous innovative features that make it fit for all. Let’s dig deeper, shall we?

The Rizta looks smart but not sporty. The front end is dominated by the large body panels within which resides the LED headlamp unit. The handlebar section comes with a black plastic panel and once again looks simple. In profile the scooter sure looks big, but the design is nothing that sets benchmarks. The rear section especially looks a bit odd although the sleek LED tail light works hard to make things attractive.

The rear mudguard too is a small unit and sits low down. But the design is where all the brickbats end as from then on it is all about functionality where the Rizta scores big. Let’s start with the seat which is massive and can house two with ease. The pillion also gets a backrest which is comfortable as well. The floorboard is large and offers enough space for luggage and your legs. Ather has also added a 22-litre frunk which can be utilised as a large stowage space.
