Dental care: This is one of the most neglected aspects of pet care. However, it needs to be mentioned that tartar causes insidious harm to vital organs like kidneys and the heart and should be prevented. If brushing their teeth seems hard or impossible, you can add tartar preventive additives to their food or drinking water. These are tasteless and work like a charm in preventing tartar build-up if given regularly. Chrorophyll based dental chewsticks as well as oral probiotics also help. If there is significant amount of tartar causing periodontal disease, dental scaling under anaesthesia is the only way to remove sub gingival tartar. Do not give bones, they can splinter and cause damage to the stomach or intestinal walls.
