THE WELCOME From the ground floor, Ascott Makati may not seem like the typical luxury stay. The earth-toned ground floor lobby is simple and unassuming, housing only chaise lounge chairs and a few ornate pieces. Guards manning it greet guests warmly—just as exuded by security and staff at the main lobby located at the sixth floor. Such warmth adds to the charm of this serviced residence, apart from its unparalleled accessibility and modern elegance.

While check-in can take time, there are four concierge desks and a facilitating staff to speed things up. I find that Ascott’s meticulous check-in process is an exercise in guest safety—something I truly appreciate. Afterwards, there was a bell boy on standby to help with our luggage.

THE SCENE Situated in Glorietta 4, Ascott Makati lies on a hectic commercial area in Makati—only an elevator ride away from famous restaurants, artisans, shops, cinemas, and bars. Should you tire of Ayala Center, there is Landmark and SM Makati to soothe one’s shopping desires. There’s a small park in front, but if you fancy more expansive ones, Washington Sycip Park and Legazpi Park—which host a famous Sunday Market—are a short ride from the property.
