Superpowered: Tesla Zero-Emission Technology

SUSTAINABLE

According to some, buying a Tesla is the best thing you can do for the planet if you want to reduce your carbon footprint and help to reverse the effects of global warming. Indeed, not only will you be reducing your reliance on fossil fuels, but you’ll be helping to lower the costs of batteries and helping to make a 100% renewable energy grid more affordable. The more demand there is for electric vehicles, the cheaper Teslas and other vehicles will become.

“I think it’s probably fair to say that Tesla (our customers) has advanced sustainable energy by at least five years, conservatively, and maybe closer to 10, and then if we continue to make progress, we might advance it by 20 years,” Musk told Recode in a 2018 interview. And he’s right. The company alone has helped push forward stagnant energy and car industries that, for many decades, had rested on their laurels, damaging the environment without thinking about the future.

Today, all of the major car manufacturers are offering e-versions of their popular models. In 2019, we’ve seen the new Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid, the Audi e-tron, the Porsche Cayenne, the Jaguar I-PACE, the BMW i8 and the Fiat 500e to name but a few, and the years ahead will no doubt see such vehicles become more prevalent. In countries such as the United Kingdom, where parliament is pressured to improve air quality and reduce its emissions, the government is offering £3,500 grants to encourage consumers to switch to electric vehicles. Other territories offer similar schemes to encourage uptake.
