Gear Can Make or Break a Trip

There are some things you just don't think of. My tent was yellow; it magnified the 24-hour sun. had to use three layers over my eyes to try and block out the rays. I can't say! slept well in Antarctica! (But some things you can do without, if you have to The longest time I've spent without a shower was 33 days...)

It all started when I signed on as a general hand with White Desert, who offer luxury tours to Antarctica - the only continent I hadn't yet been to.

My initial responsibilities included setting up the guest ice camps (they're usually taken down at the end of each season, helping with the set-up of a brand-new camp, and later on, maintaining the camps and their respective runways. This involved tasks such as refuelling planes, melting and distributing water, digging out any planes and vehicles that had been snowed in by a storm, grooming and maintaining the runway, and finally, unloading and distributing cargo from any of the planes that landed and took off regularly.
