Quick reaction surface-to-Air-Missile being test fired from a truck-based mobile launcher

The Indian air-defence missile programme took a massive leap when the country successfully test fired the Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) on August 4, 2019. The state-of-the-art weapon system developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) took off from a mobile truck-based transporter erector launcher (TEL vehicle) positioned at Launch Complex-III of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Odisha.
Precision engineering at its best
The solid-fuel propelled QRSAM has a range of up to 30 km and can be launched from a mobile launcher. The canister-package made from maraging steel significantly enhances the weapon system’s shelf life. The surface-to-air missile is an all-weather and all-terrain capable weapon system equipped with electronic counter measures (ECMs) against jamming by enemy radars.
