Serving a total of 102 destinations in 46 countries, SWISS promises a better travel experience and is committed to deliver quality products and services.

Sky High

Formed after the bankruptcy of Swissair—which was Switzerland’s former flag carrier—SWISS came into being in 2002. With Credit Suisse and UBS selling part of Swissair’s assets to Crossair, they changed its name to Swiss Airlines (also known as SWISS) and the new national airline started operating officially on March 31, 2002. After four years of struggle, they halved their losses and in March 2008, Marcel Biedermann, the Managing Director, Intercontinental Market, stated, “This is the beginning of getting our house back in order,” in the 2008 edition of Airways magazine. With Lufthansa taking over SWISS in March 2005, it took off as a well-respected brand and now caters to more than 16 million passengers every year. SWISS is a part of Lufthansa and a member of Star Alliance, the world’s largest airline network.
