ODE TO ONENESS

In an age where fame is more fickle than ever, I remember the man whose career formed a prototype of the modern fashion luxury, Karl Lagerfeld in his one-year death anniversary.

He was one of fashion’s greatest multitasker, with a seven-decade long career, Lagerfeld was one of the prolific designers of the 20th and 21st century. I could recall 1902-2019 when the news broke out by Chanel with whom he was associated with for the longest about his death at 85, as a fashion enthusiast all I could think of his words as quoted, “I don’t want to real in the other people’s lives, I want to be an apparition”, and at that moment all that he could ever be.

Karl was a definition of fashion polyglot, Anna Wintour, editor of American Vogue, said of Mr Lagerfeld, “More than anyone I know, he represents the soul of fashion: restless, forward-looking and voraciously attentive to our changing culture,” in 2015 while presenting an award to him.
