A new view at Hope Cove

It was the view of Hope Cove that sold it to a couple who went on to create a stunning house that reflects the beauty of the area

A new view at Hope Cove

Visiting a tumbledown bungalow in their favourite holiday spot, Nicki and Ruairidh Hogg’s gaze was drawn out to inner and outer Hope Cove, the South West Coast Path and the horizon beyond. They were sold.

The couple, from Long Ditton in Surrey had spent many a happy holiday with their children in the South Hams. Now with children flown the nest, it was time for this couple to create a base where they could all gather.

In 2013 they saw the advert for the bungalow in an estate agent’s window in Kingsbridge. Soon they found themselves in an upstairs room of a pub in Kingsbridge, bidding for the property at auction.

“It was an exhilarating experience,” admits Nicki. “We knew we had to have it. As an architect, Ruairidh had the vision to design a house that would sit perfectly in the landscape and maximise views in all directions.”
