Uckfield Exploring the attractive Wealden market town built around the River Uck
2 There is only one street in the whole of the UK called Pudding Cake Lane, and it’s here in Uckfield. Legend has it that travellers were able to visit a pub here to buy pudding cake, whatever that is or was. It’s all a bit vague. Sadly, this is no longer the case.

4 Holy Cross Church: There’s been a church in or around this site for 700 years, but this version of it was built in the early half of the 19th century. It is a peaceful oasis just off the High Street, opposite Pudding Cake Lane. The bells were cast at the famous Whitechapel Foundry in London, which was in business for 450 years up until closure just three years ago.
