Benefits Of Reading!

Excerpts from the interview with Anusha Subramanian:

You are perhaps one of the youngest published authors in the country. What made you want to write books at such a young age?

In a way, I think it’s because of my father. He started writing around the same time that I got interested in writing. Seeing him so immersed in his novel, I guess even I wanted to see how that felt — and it was also a kind of personal challenge to see if I could complete a novel all by myself.

Your first book came out when you were 12. You are now well into your late teens. What has kept you going and how has your journey been?

My journey has been fantastic! I didn’t realize just how much I loved writing until I was completely immersed in it. This was what kept me going. As I grew older, a lot of stuff started piling up: I had homework, exams, a social life and writing was a brilliant way to help me relax.

Your two books deal with two completely different genres of storytelling. What were the opportunities and pitfalls of this ‘experiment’?
