Q. What is Ashok Leyland’s BSVI strategy with the Mid-NOx system?

A. The mid-NOx system applies to ICV and above range of vehicles. It is not the strategy for LCVs. The LCV strategy for BSVI we will announce soon. In case of packaging the Mid-NOx system on ICV and heavier CVs, the packaging challenge was reasonable.

Q. How different is the iEGR on BSVI CV Mid-NOx system as compared to the BSIV CVs?

A. There’s not much change in the iEGR system; it is the same. Increasing the power and torque by turbocharging, we have been able to control the amount of NOx coming out of the engine. So, essentially one half of the NOx is at the iEGR stage, and the other half is at the SCR stage. The particulate matter is controlled by the DPF. The Mid-NOx could be defined such that the NOx control happens at the engine level as well as at the exhaust level.

Q. How many engines are you migrating to BSVI?

A. We are migrating the entire range of engines to BSVI.
