Furnishing the Chateau

Emilia de Farcy talks to Katie Pike about how she and her mother filled their chateau's guest rooms with beautiful auction finds

How did you approach furnishing the guest rooms? We had a family discussion and decided we wanted. to keep the furniture old but make the rooms very clean and neat with modern comforts - such as phone charger points by the beds and remote-controlled lighting. We wanted everything to look like it was decorated in the 18th century, so even wallpapers are reproductions of old designs, and the bathroom fittings are antique.

Many of the rooms include alcoves, in which beds used to be placed.
