Basil Rajapaksa is the strategist and considered to be the mover and shaker of the present regime. Rajapaksa who has been in active politics for two decades contested the general elections in 1977 for Mulkirigala for the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP). He later became the General Secretary of the breakaway faction led by SLFP's then Deputy Leader, Maithreepala Senanayake (Maithree faction).

Dialog Television is a subsidiary of Dialog Telekom. Today Dialog TV offers a choice of up to 54 local and international channels to a subscriber populous in excess of 45,000. Nushad Perera, CEO of Dialog TV speaks on how the company was formed following the acquisition of the controversial broadcaster, CBN Sat in December 2006 and the critical role the company plays as cultural custodian.

Royal Ceramics is a public quoted company listed on Colombo Stock Exchange. Having started operations approximately 15 years ago as the only homogeneous porcelain tile manufacturer in Sri Lanka, it still holds that distinction.

Business Today held its 10th Top 10 awards ceremony to recognise companies that have excelled in business. This year's ceremony saw Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka walk away with the top spot while Sri Lanka Telecom came second with Dialog Telekom in third place.
