You have arrived during the high season on the south west coast- cornflower blue skies, a smiling sun and a chilly breeze to embrace you! An occasional shower may surprise you, a spillover from the north eastern monsoon occurring at this time.

Galle often referred to as the ‘Walled City’ connected to the Dutch occupation in the 17th century, is a World Heritage Site’ owning to its splendid Dutch Fort, affording a splendid view of the Indian Ocean from its ramparts and inside kindles your curiosity with its Dutch atmosphere. If you are in Galle between the 16th -20th Jan, you may visit the Galle Fairway Literary Festival one of the most prestigious literary festivals in the Asian region. It would be interesting to experience ‘Chambers’ inside the Fort, serving Middle Eastern cuisine in authentic surroundings.

The south west coastline is dotted with enticing beach resorts, and Unawatuna is one of the best. Protected by a natural reef its placid blue waters thrill beach lovers. Insight Resort at Ahangama, will greet you with swaying palms, a blue sky and a tantalizing beach framing the sea.
