The weather patterns this year gave Sri Lanka more rain and drought, and you will miss the’ nip in the air’ usually found in October giving an Autumn feel. The historic Kasthane sword gifted to our President Hon. Maithripala Sirisena by Vladimir Putin, Hon. President of Russia make the lead story. It is a kind of sword used by Kandyan nobility and was taken to U.K. in 1906, purchased by a Russian at a Sotheby’s auction in 2006. Mr. Putin’s noble gesture brought the sword to its rightful resting place-the National Museum, Colombo. An interesting read. An in-depth study of Dambulla, the cave temple complex often compared to Ajantha and Ellore cave in India, displays the largest area of murals in Sri lanka.
