Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys defense was surprisingly solid against the Giants in Week 1. However, this unit’s success did not last very long. Denver Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian had a field day against a banged-up Cowboys secondary during their Week 2 matchup in Denver. Siemian completed 22 of the 32 passes he attempted for a total of 231 yards. He threw four touchdowns and was only intercepted once.
Playing from behind for most of the game, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was forced to attempt 50 passes, 30 of which were completed. Prescott threw two touchdowns, but was also intercepted twice. Star running back Ezekiel Elliott was virtually a non-factor, as he carried the ball nine times for a total of just eight yards. Denver’s stringent defense was too much for the Cowboys offense, and the Broncos cruised to a 42-17 victory.
Prescott and Elliott played much better in Week 3, as the Boys went on the road and beat the Arizona Cardinals 28-17 on Monday Night Football. Prescott completed 13 passes on 18 attempts for a total of 183 yards. He threw two touchdowns and rushed for one as well. Elliott rushed for 80 yards on 22 carries and scored one touchdown.
