Of course, Steven was well known to the squad before his arrival as a fair few of them had come up against him when his former side PSV faced us in the Champions League at Wembley in November 2018 – particularly Serge Aurier, who lined up opposite the winger at right back in the game with the task of keeping him at bay down our right-hand side.
And there was one moment during the game which wasn’t easily forgotten by the Ivorian and winger Lucas Moura, who had also played on the right flank in that game, as the pair made our new signing relive a certain nutmeg from that match as part of his welcome to the Club.
“When I came into the changing room on my first day here, Serge Aurier and Lucas Moura were there,” our number 23 explained. “I remembered that I had played against Spurs at Wembley last season and in that game, Serge gave me a nutmeg and so that was the first thing I saw when I went into the dressing room on my first day.
“They had a clip of that moment playing on a screen when I went in. Everyone was smiling and laughing about it.”
