‘I entered the world of technology in architecture through my master’s, where I found my calling, of innovating design solutions while working with an array of technological tools’, says Ar Monish Siripurapu, Founder Principal, Ant Studio, New Delhi.

During his initial tryst with architecture, Monish started questioning man’s ancient knowledge of constructing and making shelters. ‘What is the change that we, as designers, are bringing about through this knowledge – and whether that change is negative or positive for the environment and our future?’

‘Building on this thought, I designed my final year thesis project on the uncommon topic of exploring the fourth dimension of time within architecture. I owe a lot to Professor I M Chishti, a true visionary. As our studio director he encouraged me to take it forward to culminate my academic explorations,’ says the 31-year old.

Monish fell in love with the poetic idea of motion in spaces by following Santiago Calatrava. His internship at Mindspace Architects gave him the first taste of designing spaces. He admires ‘the way Ar Sanjay Mohe played with light’. Later, while working with Abaxial Architects, Monish received ‘a lot of creative freedom by the respected head Ar Suparna Bhalla’.
