Top-shelf transmitter for the serious pilot

Powerbox Systems CORE

PowerBox Systems is based in Germany and manufactures a line of high-end power distribution systems and multi-axis aircraft gyros. Power distribution isn’t required for your average aircraft but when you reach a level of cost, complexity, and size, there are many advantages.

PowerBox recently released their highly anticipated CORE radio, a flagship-level radio system that seamlessly integrates with the PowerBox power distribution and gyro systems.

If you’re considering this radio system, you are likely flying turbine jets, or large and complex scale models. If you’re flying such a model though, investing in such a radio is an excellent way to protect your investment. Let’s also not forget that investment carries not only a dollar amount, but the many hours spent building your pride and joy.

FIRST LOOK

I’ve flown just about every transmitter on the market since I bought my first Cox/Sanwa 2-channel in the early ’80s, and a rare few of them just feel special in your hands. When you pick up this radio, you know you have a substantial piece of equipment at your disposal. Attempting to describe all the features of the CORE would take most of this issue so I’ll do my best in the limited space allotted.

The CORE is a ground-up radio, meaning that during the development PowerBox engineers were not beholden to adhering to any backward compatibility. This gave them freedom to implement the very latest features and protocols without comprise. Their 2.4 transmission protocol is based on the proven Weatronics system that has demonstrated a high immunity to interference and excellent range.

PRODUCT REVIEW: RC PLANE STANDS BENCHTOP MODEL

I’m a sucker for shop stuff. I buy tools I will probably never use just because they are cool, or I might need to use them someday. When Glen from RC Plane Stands reached out about a review, however, I knew as soon as I browsed their website that I would be receiving something I would use a lot, maybe even daily.
