Meet Sharmeen Fathima, a mother of 2 and a homemaker from Chennai, whose love for mother nature and passion for fragrances and flowers helped her start her own skin care brand called ‘Chennai Soap Company’, that at present offers around 26 varieties of soaps which are chemical-free. The Soap STORY

Tell us about Chennai Soap Company. How and when it came into existence? I always liked beauty products which were organic and natural. When I was young, I was fascinated by ubtans and natural remedies for all ailments. I would ask my aunts and elders about their benefits. My skin was very sensitive and oily at the same time and that’s the reason commercial soaps did not suit me. I used to try ubtans and soaps in the market to keep my acne at bay. It was then; I came across handmade soaps and used many from a few brands. While browsing through internet about those brands, I came across the process of making cold process soaps. One fine day, I thought, why not I create my own soaps instead of spending so much on them? There after I made my first soap in 2017 and there was no looking back. With trials and errors, I found a perfect moisturizing formula to make a fine soap. I thought of sharing my creations with others too and that lead to the birth of Chennai Soap Company, my brainchild.
