1 AVENGERS: ENDGAME
Spanning 22 films, the longest arc in cinema history comes to a close as Marvel rounds off the story in style. Tony Stark AKA Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) and squad attempt to take down the all-powerful Thanos (Josh Brolin), and this finale certainly delivers.
2 THE LION KING
This photo-realistic CGI take on Disney’s beloved 1994 cartoon is a virtual (in every way) shot-for-shot remake. That said, if you have never watched the cartoon version, this is a great story and the songs by Sir Elton John and Sir Tim Rice sound better than ever.
3 DARKEST HOUR
Playing a juicy character such as Winston Churchill is a dream gig for an actor, and Gary Oldman certainly dives into his performance here as the wartime prime minister with aplomb. It’s beautifully filmed, with superb actors in virtually every role, including Kristin Scott Thomas as Churchill’s wife Clementine.
4 KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE
This high-octane action comedy yarn is part My Fair Lady, part James Bond, as suave spy Colin Firth turns troubled hoodie Taron Egerton into a debonair special agent. It’s smart, slick and funny with inventive, beautifully choreographed action scenes.
