Kerre loves the sight of laundry on a washing line, but it's under threat

Just when I thought it was safe to hang out the washing, our rotary line is under attack - again.

What is it with landscape gardeners and their loathing of washing lines? When I was living in a cottage in Grey Lynn, we undertook a few renovations, inside and out. And the professionals I signed up to make our place beautiful had the washing line in their sights from day one. The fact I was able to have a washing line at all even one that was retractable and barely took up any space in the back garden - is testament to my love of freshly laundered clothes.

When I moved out of Grey Lynn and into a couple of rented apartments, I hated having no choice other than to use the washer dryers installed in the rental accommodation.
