Disney Illusion Island

Does this reboot manage to capture the nostalgia of the original Illusion games and stand out in the genre, or does its spell wear off too quickly?

Back in the '90s, Mario and Sonic were the undisputed GOATS of 2D platforming... but Mickey Mouse wasn't far behind with his Castle of Illusion and World of Illusion.

To mark Disney's 100th anniversary the series is making a return, allowing you to guide Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy through the hand-drawn world of Monoth, which gradually opens up as you acquire new abilities.

While the various skills on offer animate differently for each character - Mickey glides using a propeller on his tail, Minnie descends with a mini polka-dot parasol, Goofy squeezes a huge bottle of mustard, and Donald flaps a pair of feathers - none are unique or significantly change how you traverse the world.
