Daughters' crowdfunder to pay for shot dad's funeral
August 22, 2025
|Yorkshire Evening Post
A 'gentle giant' dad who was killed in a drive-by shooting had only recently survived cancer.
Dale Stogden, 50, who was known as Brett, received the all clear after a four-month battle against lung cancer months before he was killed.
Now his daughters have organised a Go Fund Me appeal to pay for his funeral.
The ex-security guard from Wakefield had been diagnosed in November 2024. After several rounds of chemo and radiotherapy got the all clear in February.
But he was killed outside a pizza takeaway in Wakefield at 9.43 pm on Tuesday August 12. Three men have been charged with Brett's murder and will stand trial next year.
In a statement, his daughters Piper, 18, and Alyssa, 20, said: "Our favourite memories with him were when the three of us went to out for breakfast he was always joking around. Sometimes times we would walk to the canal and sit on bench and watch the ducks whilst listening to music.
