Jail term for stabbing is suspended

A WOMAN in Cornwall has been spared jail after stabbing her husband in a “disproportionate use of self defence” writes Maxine Denton.

Gail Hatch, 54, caused a fracture to her husband's shoulder after stabbing him with a knife.

Hatch, of Mounts Bay Terrace, Porthleven, appeared for sentencing at Truro Crown Court on Thursday after being found guilty by a jury of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.

The court heard how Hatch had been the victim of domestic violence for a long period of time. As a result, she resorted to alcohol and was said to be drunk on the day in question.
