Gladiators challenged as 'Bomber' comes to town
May 10, 2025
|Western Morning News (Saturday)
IT has been another frustrating week for the hard working volunteers of Plymouth Speedway, who have spent more time cleaning up and securing the site from vandals, rather than preparing for tonight's Championship opener against Glasgow Tigers at the Coliseum.

Unfortunately, the bar on bends one and two was broken into during the week by mindless vandals, leading to the theft of alcoholic beverages, soft drinks and even a football that was inside the cabin.
CCTV is pretty conclusive and the theft has been reported, although anyone with any further information is advised to contact the police, so the perpetrators can be rightfully caught and dealt with.
Such incidents are not uncommon at the Coliseum, unfortunately, but to use that famous old show business phrase: “The show must go on” and that is very much what the Gladiators are doing.
Tonight's meeting sees a return to the Coliseum for one of British speedway’s stand-out riders of the last 20 years - Chris Harris. 'Bomber' may be wearing the colours of Glasgow this evening, but the Cornishman always draws a crowd with many sure to venture up and head across the Tamar from his native Cornwall.
