Before the main festival begins, a special pre-event will take place on Tuesday, September 9, when New Zealand author Heather Morris, best known for The Tattooist of Auschwitz, Cilka’s Journey and Sisters Under the Rising Sun, opens proceedings at St John’s Church.
British novelist Sebastian Faulks, author of Birdsong and A Week in December, will appear in another pre-event on Wednesday, October 22, where he will discuss his new book Fires Which Burned Brightly.
