Big names set to appear at literary festival

SOME of the biggest names in literature and entertainment are set to descend on Yeovil this autumn as the town’s literary festival unveils its biggest programme to date.

The Yeovil Literary Festival will run from Friday, October 17 to Monday, October 27, with events spread across key venues including Westlands Entertainment Venue, Yeovil Library, St John’s Church and Waterstones.

Before the main festival begins, a special pre-event will take place on Tuesday, September 9, when New Zealand author Heather Morris, best known for The Tattooist of Auschwitz, Cilka’s Journey and Sisters Under the Rising Sun, opens proceedings at St John’s Church.

British novelist Sebastian Faulks, author of Birdsong and A Week in December, will appear in another pre-event on Wednesday, October 22, where he will discuss his new book Fires Which Burned Brightly.
