STONE SP were crowned NSSCL Premier A champions for the first time in a decade after a wet end to the campaign.

- Chris Travers

Dan Lunn’s side went into their final encounter three points clear of Leek in the battle to lift the topflight title.

Stone SP ventured to Bagnall Norton, who needed a victory to ensure that they avoided relegation.

However, the inclement weather meant that none of the six scheduled Premier A matches saw a ball bowled.

That left Stone SP as champions for the first time since the 2015 campaign.

For Bagnall Norton, though, they drop out of the top division after the elements prevented them from making a late dash to safety.

The abandonments came as something of a relief to Porthill Park, who had started the day just three points clear of the relegation zone.
