Nature reserve's first exhibition of volunteer's art

A NATURE reserve is holding its first art exhibition to showcase the work of one of its volunteers.

The display at the Natural History Society of Northumbria’s Gosforth reserve in Newcastle features the paintings of retired head teacher Neil Pont, based on the region’s bird life.

Neil operates as a volunteer education ranger at the reserve, working with youngsters and school groups on activities such as creating artworks on the ground from gathered natural materials, then returning them to where they were found.
