Library revamp to start in summer

NORTH Tyneside Council's ruling Labour group states it remains committed to re-vamping Tynemouth Library with works due to start this summer - but Tory opposition remains sceptical.
The long-awaited revamp of Tynemouth Library is scheduled to start in earnest this summer, five years since it was closed, with work delayed last year due to an electric substation needing to be relocated.
The plans, signed off by councillors in 2022, include restoring a library facility, the installation of a community hub, a Newcastle Building Society branch, and six new flats.
