Horden make big leap with return to FA Cup

JONNY Payne is relishing Horden CW's first FA Cup tie since they reformed as they visit Blyth Town this afternoon.

The Northern League Division Two champions secured a spot in the extra preliminary round of the competition thanks to last season’s promotion into step five and have made a solid start to the new campaign.

After producing a positive performance that earned no reward with a 4-2 defeat at Boro Rangers last weekend, Payne’s men earned a narrow home win against West Allotment Celtic in midweek and will now turn their attention towards a tough-looking trip to Gateway Park.

He said: "It’s the first time we have been back in the FA Cup since the club reformed and that makes it a huge game for us.

"It’s a landmark for me, I haven't managed in the FA Cup so it’s a big occasion for me personally and I hope there is a big crowd there for it.
