Children perched on car roof in causeway drama

FAMILY of five were rescued after their car became stranded on the Holy Island causeway after they attempted to cross it during high tide.
It comes less than two weeks after Northumberland County Council issued a warning to motorists not to take risks with the island’s infamous tides, with between 10 and 20 vehicles getting stranded each year. The local authority says several more have been stranded this year.
