New festival is bound to be a Ruckus
June 27, 2025

FESTIVAL season is well and truly upon us and, after the success of the Summer Sessions on the Hoe, we have the brand new Ruckus Festival to look forward to next weekend.
Taking place at the Plymouth Albion RFU stadium, it boasts a great line-up of music, with eight or nine bands appearing on each of three days, including headline acts Tom Meighan, the voice of Kasabian, indie pop faves The Feeling and ska revival king Neville Staple of the Specials.
“We're delighted with our line-up,” says Plymouth Albion marketing manager Paul Nicholson. “We feel we have a real mix of styles and there will be loads of familiar tunes and plenty of hits from our headliners.
“When we first put our plan in place we realised that we were aiming for the same weekend as Rec Fest, set to take place at The Rectory ground nearby,” continues Paul. “Theirs is more of a heavy rock line-up that includes headliners Knotslip, Stiff Bizkit and Metallica Reloaded, so we invited them to join with us and those acts, which may perhaps attract a slightly different audience, will be performing on the Friday.”
Saturday and Sunday also offer plenty of fabulous contributions from a host of bands and artists as well as the headliners.
Support for Tom Meighan on Saturday comes from Elvana, Cardinal Black, Showhawk Duo, William the Conqueror and the Busketeers.

Older drivers tend to be the safest on the road
REGARDING recent newspaper reports about compulsory eye tests for the over-70s, as we have to renew our licences every three years anyway, I really cannot see that this will be a problem for most people of that age.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY
Although I am well aware that social media is largely an echo chamber that will feed back to you what you search for, there are no shortage of videos and articles about fashionable dressing for men, while vintage clothing is no longer merely bagged up and donated to charity shops but can yield high prices on re-sale sites such as eBay and Vinted.
