Mum who lost five stones will now help others
January 02, 2026

A MOTHER who once envied runners from afar is now leading the pack after a life-changing transformation that saw her swap chronic exhaustion for endurance.
Having previously felt trapped by self-doubt and physical pain, she has finally found the confidence to step out from behind the camera and into a new role helping others.
Sandie Maben, from Plymouth, spent years struggling with the demands of working full-time while raising two children.
The daily grind left her drained, and her weight contributed to persistent back pain and aching joints.
"I may have been smiling on the outside," Sandie said, "but I was crying on the inside."
In May 2022, inspired by a colleague's success, Sandie decided to join a local Slimming World group.
