Goal after going from Bermuda to the Barbican
June 06, 2025
|The Herald
A COUPLE who swapped a tropical island paradise for life in Plymouth are on a mission to “make a difference”.
-
Roderick ‘Roddy’ Petty and Dawn Zuill made the 3,000 mile move from Bermuda three years ago.
They were both born in Bermuda but after Dawn’s son enrolled at Plymouth University, decided they wanted to explore their family roots in the city.
They quickly fell in love with the city and settled in the Barbican - which they say isn’t as far removed from island life as you might imagine.
Roddy said: “Plymouth felt like home from the moment we arrived. We were drawn to the Barbican’s close-knit community, which reminded us of the island life we cherished in Bermuda.
“It has the perfect balance of charm and opportunity - we knew this was the place where we could make a real impact.”
