Rogers sale will be a big win for Boro
May 02, 2025
|The Gazette
MIDDLESBROUGH could be set to profit further still from their sale of Morgan Rogers this summer, amid reports that Chelsea are keen to sign the Aston Villa star.
-
Rogers had a quickfire Boro spell that saw him arrive in a deal worth just over £1m before departing for Aston Villa just six months later in a deal worth up to £16m including performance-related add-ons.
Given Rogers’ remarkable success with Villa, most of those bonus payments have already been met.
But Boro included a sell-on fee clause in the deal that will see them pocket a percentage of any future fee that the Midlands club decides to sell Rogers for.
The exact percentage is not known but was described to The Gazette at the time as being a ‘healthy’ one.
