UP Cebu Fighting Maroons bag breakthrough basketball crown

The University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu Fighting Maroons, representing Central Visayas (Region 7), emerged as champions for the first time in men's basketball event of the 2025 State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) National Games in Camiguin Province.
The Fighting Maroons thrashed their rivals from Western Visayas (Region 6), 75-52, in a one-sided final match to take home the coveted gold medal over the weekend at the New Camiguin Gymnasium within the Pedro P. Romualdo Sports Complex in Mambajao, Camiguin.
The historic victory was extra special for UP Cebu head coach Rommel Rasmo as it's his first taste of title glory with a college team and on the national stage at that.
