The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) expressed condolences to the family of Mary Christ Cuizon, the 31-year-old mother who died after collapsing during the verification process for the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) payout at the Barangay Opao gym in Mandaue City.

In an official statement, the DSWD said Cuizon passed away during activities related to the verification process for the ECT payout and stressed that the agency stands in solidarity with her family during what it described as a difficult time.

The DSWD said it had coordinated closely with local government units to ensure the "systematic and orderly" conduct of verification and payout activities.
