EXTENDED BY A FEW DAYS | The latest changes apply to Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, but Bengal untouched
The Election Commission on Thursday extended the schedule for the ongoing SIR of electoral rolls in five states and one UT after chief electoral officers requested more time to complete the process. West Bengal, where the ruling Trinamool Congress has alleged that the SIR is being rushed ahead of the 2026 Assembly polls, is not part of the revised list.
