IN the FA Trophy Preliminary Round, Consett battled their way past Northern Premier League East rivals Bishop Auckland with a penalty shootout win at Belle View.

‘The Steelmen made the perfect start on home soil as recent signing Brandon Daniels sent a free-kick into the Two Blues area that allowed Marc Costello to volley home.
An equaliser came five minutes after halftime as a cross from debutant Nathan Thomas, the former Hartlepool and Carlisle attacker, released Dean Thexton to score.
Neither side could find an equaliser during the remaining 40 minutes and the tie was settled by a shootout that went the way of Consett as Costello struck.
Ashington’s run was ended before it begun as goals from George Harrison, Rinor Ejupi and Mutty Al-Jahadhmy condemned the Colliers to a 3-0 defeat at Garforth Town.
