Burger Bar Boys & Johnson Crew discussed in boy murder trial

THE Burger Bar Boys and Johnson Crew no longer exist in Birmingham but have been replaced by children who simply ‘rep the postcodes} a gang expert has confirmed.

PC Gareth Evans, who has worked on gangs for West Midlands Police since 2010, told the murder trial of 16-year old stab victim Sekou Doucoure that young people did not know the context of the two opposing gangs from the 1980s.

Giving evidence at Birmingham Crown Court this week, he said there had been ‘significant problems’ between the Burger Bar Boys and Johnson Crew.

He added that violence, including fatalities, between opposing gangsters in the north of Birmingham had gone on for decades and persisted today.

But asked directly by presiding judge Paul Farrer KC if the Burger Bar Boys and Johnson Crew still existed, PC Evans replied: "No. Not really. I wouldn't say so.
